Christmas

Dear Parent / Carer,
With Christmas fast approaching, I am writing to notify you of various arrangements for the end of term.
Students across the cluster are busy rehearsing for our annual Cluster Carol Concert which this year will be an outdoor event held at school at 6.00 pm on 13 December 2011.
Our Welsh Baccalaureate students are working with the Friends of Newport High School to organise a Christmas Fayre which will be held in the school Hall on December 14th 2011 at 3.15pm. We hope you will be able to support this event which will be raising money for this year’s chosen charity, St. Anne’s Hospice.
School closes for the Christmas holiday at 3.00pm on Friday 16 December 2011. Please note that lessons will continue until 16 December and that students should come fully equipped for learning right up to the end of term. We will end the last day of term with a Christmas Extravangza and House Quiz.
As winter is upon us, can I take this opportunity to remind you of our procedure for communicating information about snow closure. If we are forced to close the school, we will ensure details are posted on our school website, the Newport City Council website and the school answer-phone before 8.00 am in the morning. We have been working hard to develop resources for all subjects on our school VLE. In the event that we are forced to close, students will be able to access some schoolwork via our website www.newporthigh.co.uk.
A busy Spring Term starts for students at 8.45am on Tuesday 3 January 2012.
All that remains is for me to wish you all a very enjoyable Christmas holiday and a Happy New Year.
Yours faithfully,
Karyn Keane
Headteacher
