Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: Thursday 19th March 2020

Dear Parent/carer

TODAY – Thursday 19th and TOMORROW Friday 20TH  March: The school is CLOSED to pupils in years 7,8 and 9

Yesterday we informed parents that we had to make the decision to CLOSE the school today and tomorrow for years 7, 8 and 9.  We recognise that this may have caused significant disruption to families, but these are unprecedented circumstances, which we could not have foreseen.

TODAY – Thursday 19th March: The school is OPEN to pupils in years 10,11, 12 and 13

We are continuing to follow the UK Government’s policy of keeping schools open with the staffing and resources we have available for today and Friday 20th March 2020. We are only able to partially open to accommodate these years.

TOMORROW – Friday 20th March: The school is scheduled to be OPEN to pupils in years 10,11, 12 and 13

The school is currently scheduled to be OPEN and we will continue to assess our ability to do so during the course of today, Thursday 19th March. Only in the event of a closure will we inform parents.

Kirsty Williams, Education Minister’s statement on summer examinations 2020

Since yesterday’s school letter to you and after the end of school we were informed in the early evening of Kirsty Williams, Education Minister’s decision about cancelling the summer examinations for 2020. We are aware that this decision is causing anxiety for pupils, parents and staff alike. However, at this stage we do not know the criteria for the assessment arrangements. Once we have been informed of these, we will let everyone know. Please see the Minster’s statement by clicking on the following link below.
