Learners from Year 10 and 11 were invited to take part in the Royal College of Psychiatrists Mental Health debate at Bassaleg School. The event aimed to raise awareness of the points of view of young people and was the first debate of its kind hosted by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The four learners joined debaters from across Newport to debate the notion “This house believes that school is bad for mental health” as part of #TimetoTalk day. Following some excellent speeches from participants from all schools, huge congratulations must go to Gulghatai Shah (Year 10) and Ruvimbo Mukwenya (Year 11) who came away with the award for “Best Team”.
