Raising Aspirations in Year 8

Around 80 learners took part in a Science workshop today. Their aim was to design a wind turbine that would generate the most energy.
This Key Stage 3 workshop was run by STEM Cymru and involved teams of up to three learners assembling and testing models of wind turbines to demonstrate how energy is transferred.
Each turbine could be adapted in terms of gear layout, blade design, number and size of blades.
Learners were challenged to break the Welsh record for energy generated by a model wind turbine. This morning the current record stood at 8.1V.
Tomas Davies and Gareth Chappell smashed the Welsh record today generating a whopping 8.7V of energy with their own design. Ardderchog bechgyn!
