Whole School Letter – 27-05-2022

Friday 27th May 2022

Dear Parent/Carer

Break & lunch

We are moving to one break and lunchtime shortly after half-term. This will allow us to restart some of our extra-curricular clubs again which we have not been able to run since pre-Covid. We will share details with students after the half-term break and will be continuing with our outside lunch wherever possible, as this is having a positive impact on lessons in the afternoon.

We have a few students who are persistently late to school and late to lessons. We will be monitoring this very closely after half-term as it is important for everyone’s learning that students arrive on time and equipped for their lesson. If students arrive 10 minutes late for each lesson, over the course of the week they are missing over 4 hours of learning which equates to them missing almost a day a week of their education. Please can parents and carers reinforce the importance of punctuality to your children. Part of our teaching and learning approach is that all students have a ‘do now starter’ when they arrive at the lesson. This is often based on common misconceptions from the previous lesson and if students arrive late they miss this vital learning.

Equipment and uniform.

All students should be returning to school after the half-term break in full school uniform, with a school bag and with their own equipment, including a pen. Shorts or PE kit are not permitted to be worn to school. Students should bring their PE kit with them on the days they have PE lessons and change in school.

We do always monitor the temperature and if it becomes extremely hot we willreview our policy on shorts.

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Head of Year.

Parking on school site

Please can parents not park in the area outside the visitor and staff car park. This creates an unnecessary safety risk at the end of the school day, causes additional congestion and blocks access to the school compound. Nobody should be parking on any roads with double yellow lines, where parking is not permitted.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to make the school site safer for everyone.

Community activities at the North Hub

The Hub are running weekly Wednesday walks which are free to join. They are also hosting a range of activities over May half-term. Further details can be found on their website or by contacting Matt Rees on 07967692940

It is still important that any student who is unwell with Covid-19 symptoms does not attend school.

I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing half-term break and we look forward to welcoming our students back into school on Monday 6th June.

With many thanks for your continued support.

Kind regards

Mrs Lee
