Year 12 – Covid isolation update

Dear Parent/Carer of student in Year 12,

I am very sorry to have to inform you that a positive test of Covid-19 was reported this morning to the school involving a pupil in Year 12.  This is the result of a PCR test so, as a result, all students in Year 12 now need to self-isolate and cannot attend school. Their self-isolation period will end on 15th July so they will be able to stop isolating from Friday 16th July.

Online learning will now be provided via TEAMS. If anyone has any issues accessing this please can they contact their child’s Form Teacher in the first instance or email us on info@newporthigh.co.uk

Siblings of any student in Year 12 should still attend school as normal unless they have symptoms or anyone in your household has symptoms and the school remains open to all other pupils.

Anyone displaying symptoms should arrange to be tested asap. Please keep us informed of any positive test results.

We fully understand the concern that this may cause, and can assure you that we have worked in close liaison with the Local Authority’s Health and Safety team and with Public Health Wales, to ensure that the environment at Newport High School remains as safe as possible for our pupils during these extraordinarily difficult times.

Please can I urge all parents to check the website for the most up to date information.

With kind regards

Mrs Lee

Headteacher
