Dear Parent/Carer of student in Year 10,
I am very sorry to have to inform you that a positive test of Covid-19 was reported this evening to the school involving a pupil in Year 10. This is the result of a Later Flow Test and the student is now having a PCR test. As a result, all students in Year 10 now need to self-isolate and cannot attend school. I will update you as soon as I can with more details as to the length of this self-isolation.
Online learning will now be provided via TEAMS. If anyone has any issues accessing this please can they contact their child’s Form Teacher in the first instance or email us on firstname.lastname@example.org
Siblings of any student in Year 10 should still attend school as normal unless they have symptoms or anyone in your household has symptoms and the school remains open to all other pupils.
Anyone displaying symptoms should arrange to be tested asap. Please keep us informed of any positive test results.
We fully understand the concern that this may cause, and can assure you that we have worked in close liaison with the Local Authority’s Health and Safety team and with Public Health Wales, to ensure that the environment at Newport High School remains as safe as possible for our pupils during these extraordinarily difficult times.
Please can I urge all parents to check the website for the most up to date information.
With kind regards
