Friday 26th June 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to thank everyone for their support with moving to on-line learning this week. I appreciate this causes disruptions for families, however, having reviewed the risk assessment, and in consultation with the Chair of Governors and in-line with many other schools we felt it was the safest option.
Today and Monday are our last planned INSET days and all staff are in school preparing for the new academic year and the continued roll out of the new qualifications.
We look forward to welcoming all our students back to school on Tuesday 30th June.
We have extended our uniform adjustment to give all pupils the option of wearing their PE kit to school until the end of this school year should they choose to. If students do not have the Newport High School branded PE top, we ask that they wear a plain black t-shirt. Please note that students are not allowed to wear vest tops or crop tops. Please ensure your child has a water bottle with them.
Values and Rise
The themes this week have been commitment and being equipped. As a school, we place great importance on developing these values, as they are essential qualities for success in adult life. Commitment helps young people build resilience, responsibility and a strong work ethic, enabling them to persevere when faced with challenges. Equally, being equipped—whether through having the right resources, skills or mindset—prepares students to make the most of every opportunity. By encouraging these habits every day, we are helping our students develop the confidence, independence and character they will need to thrive in their future education, careers and communities.
Tickets for Newport High School’s production of The Addams Family are on sale!
Don’t miss your chance to join us for this hilarious and spooky musical comedy, running from Monday 6th July to Wednesday 8th July, with curtains up at 6:00pm in the Newport High School Main Hall.
