GCSE Results Best Ever!
This year 75% of Newport High Year 11 students gained 5 A*-C grades or the vocational equivalent. This is an excellent result – the best ever for the school and represents a 24% increase on our 2009 outcome. Congratulations everyone – this is a result of the dedication of staff and the hard work of the students themselves.

Whilst many students achieved outstanding grades, there are a few that are worthy of note:
Elliott Hardee achieved 1xA*, 4xDistinction*, 3xA, 2xMerit and 3xB grades. He successfully managed to balance his academic studies whilst leading the Wales Schools Cross Country Team in his position as Captain of the squad.
Ross Ward achieved 1xA*, 4xDistinction*, 2xDistinction, 2xA, 3xB and 1xC grade. Gemma Hendy achieved 1xA*, 5XA and 3xB grades. Emily Merry gained 1xA*, 5xA,  1xB and 1xC grade and Naomi Edwards achieved 1 x A*, 2xDistinction, 2xA, 4xB and 2xC grades.
In addition to the successes of our Year 11 students, Year 9 and 10 students have also completed a range of vocational and GCSE qualifications.
In Year 10, an amazing 49% of students have already gained 5 or more GCSEs at C grade or higher. Alice Pritchard has already  gained 2xA*, 2xA, 1xB and 5xC grades. Welsh Cyclist, Sarah Crowley has already achieved 4xDistinction*, 3xA, 3xB and 2xC grades.
