Friday 21st June is our annual Transition Day for Year 5 and 6 learners from our cluster primary schools. On this day the school will be closed to all of our current learners.

School will be open as normal on Monday 24th June.

As your child approaches the end of Year 8 they meet a very important transition in their time at Newport High School.
Next year your child will move to a new tutor group with different systems in place. They will have a new Tutor for Learning and Co-Tutor who they will see at the end of every day for 20 minutes. These members of staff will support your child through their courses and work with them to ensure they are progressing fully.
They should be your first point of contact with the school regarding your child. They will contact you regularly about the progress being made and you should get to know them quite well over the next three years.
In order to support learners in the transition into Key Stage 4 we are holding a parents’ evening on Thursday 6 June at 6.00pm where you can find further information about our curriculum and provision at Key Stage 4. There will be a brief presentation in the hall followed by an opportunity to meet your child’s Head of House and Tutor for Learning.
Over the next few weeks we will be ensuring that the transition into the house system is smooth and enjoyable for our students. I look forward to meeting you this Thursday 6 June. If you have any queries in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us at the school.

Newport High will be having a non-school uniform day on Friday 24^th May. All learners will be able to wear their own clothes and make a donation of £1. The School Council decided that on this occasion money will be donated to St Anne’s Hospice and also support student activities in school.

Update:
Another very successful non-school uniform day!
So far we have counted a huge sum of £638.49 to be donated to St. Anne’s hospice and to help with student activities
